Holiday rental is a very important topic in Mallorca. Lawyer Mr. Dominic Porta, from PORTA & ASSOCIATES, was pleased to answer three important questions on the subject.
What is the difference between old and new licenses?
“Old licences” means licences that were applied for under the old legal situation, before August 2017. “New licences”, on the other hand, are licences applied for under the new or current legal situation, from August 2017. The main differences here are the now more complicated application procedure, the acquisition of bed places and the designation of areas.
What are the costs for the rental license per bed (house, apartment)?
- Single-family houses all year round and for an indefinite period of time granted: 3.500,00 €
- Apartment buildings whole year for the duration of five years granted: 875,00 €
- Renting the main apartment for two months a year and for the duration of five years granted: 291,67 €
Can the licences of bed spaces be resold?
What does transferable mean? What is the procedure here? Yes, the licenses can be sold. Transferable means that the license can be transferred to another property or to a new property owner. The process varies depending on the type of transfer.
